Dream home

I am endlessly cleaning my kids stuff-and by ‘cleaning’ I mean recycling-I, at times, feel guilt about this. One specific moment was hearing my then 3 yo walking down the stairs talking to her dad about trying to find her treasure, and she said ‘Mummy probably put it in the recycling bin outside’-it was harsh, but also accurate.

Recently, they have been designing their dream home, in part inspired by a Bluey episode ‘Escape’ in which the girls decided to track down their parents who are trying to have some alone time by building a crazy dream house on wheels (which includes a pool, lots of cool rooms and tons of butlers…sounds dreamy! So does the alone time tbh)

My girls took this idea and stuck about 36 pieces of paper together (with either masking tape or stickers) and designed their own ideal palace-also on wheels-which includes lots of cinemas, pools, bubble tea rooms, sushi bar/risotto restaurants, whole extra houses for the cat, we usually get a room as their parents (so #blessed) beach spaces and roller discos and well it goes on and on…

They have now strayed into making their designs 3D using A LOT of lego. Putting aside the amounts of lego that are now strewn around our house, menacingly ready to cause pain to an unbeknown foot at any point. I am jealous! Jealous of their creativity, their excitement to create.

I have not written a blog for ages-some may say blogs are a thing of the past (like shag bands from the 90s never to return) but alas its my notebook so I am going to be back on here more often.

Will it be my dream house….erm maybe…or maybe more of my own clubhouse, where I am monologuing pretending I am with all my mates (Man alive this sounds pathetic…side note for a few weeks I started a club when I was 8 in my shed…I think there were 3 members, I bought sweets and there wa a secret password…inspired by the secret 7, but without any crime/adventures to solve it didn”t survive!)

But what it will be is consistent, I am going to commit to writing 2 blog posts a month. Let’s see where this takes us.

Thought of the day: I went over to Ashton Court miniature railway today, it was lovely. The youngest was thrilled to not only ride a miniature steam train but get a piece of cake whilst she left the station! It reminded me of Pecorama-please look it up-with the volunteers so enthusaistic about model railway. I also remember dinosaur footprints being painted on the ground leading to the entrance, unsure why they did that? Maybe a link to the jurassic coast line…I think you need to keep your brand/USP clear-so if trains was their thing they should leave the fossil bit to one side. Btw, the thought is about people and their passions. Whats my passion and how do I invest in it-is it 90s memorobilia? Should I be opening a museum…and how easy will it be to source things when I am going to be googling constantly to go on an endless goose chase just to remember a hat.

This was the hat I was thinking of, also in black velvet, with a matching scrunchie!

Have you got passions you pursue? Let me know and then this clubhouse idea might seem less depressing…and maybe could slowly develop into something amazing, better than Ritchie Rich’s house but not as weird as the Fun House.
